Product Description
Common uses
Cyklokapron is used to prevent excessive bleeding in patients with:
• traumatic hyphaema (bleeding into the front part of the eye).
• blood clotting disorders, who are having minor surgery.
• heavy periods.
• hereditory angioneurotic oedema (periodic swelling of the throat).
Also used for:
Abnormally heavy bleeding during, and after, the surgical removal of the prostate gland
Abnormally heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia)
Nose bleeds (epistaxis)
Surgical procedures and dental extractions for people with haemophilia
Before using
You must tell your doctor about all of the following before you start to use Cyklokapron:
• If you have ever suffered from blood clots
• If you have a problem with colour vision
• If you have kidney disease
• If you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant
Directions
Take exactly as directed. Dosage is generally two to four times daily by mouth. Length of treatment is based on your condition and response.
Cautions
Cyklokapron Tablets are indicated in patients with hemophilia for short term use (two to eight days) to reduce or prevent hemorrhage and reduce the need for replacement therapy during and following tooth extraction.
Possible side effects
Medicines and their possible side effects can affect individual people in different ways. The following are some of the side effects that are known to be associated with this medicine. Because a side effect is stated here, it does not mean that all people, using this medicine will experience that or any side effect: diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea, dizziness, disturbance of colour vision. The side effects, listed above, may not include all of the side effects, reported by the drug's manufacturer. If you take too much
There is no known case of overdosage of Cyklokapron Tablets and Injection. Symptoms of overdosage may be nausea, vomiting, orthostatic symptoms and/or hypotension.
Additional information
Tell all doctors and pharmacists who are treating you that you are taking Cyklokapron.
If you are about to start taking any new medicines, tell your doctor and pharmacist that you are taking Cyklokapron.
Drug interactions
Tell your doctor of all nonprescription or prescription medication you may use, especially of: aspirin/NSAIDs (e.g., ibuprofen), anticoagulants ("blood thinners" such as warfarin or heparin), aminocaproic acid, factor IX complex, anti-inhibitor coagulant concentrates, drugs that can cause blood clots (e.g., estrogens or birth control pills). Many nonprescription products contain aspirin/NSAIDs. Check labels carefully and consult your pharmacist. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
